The National Rural Water Association (NRWA), which is the largest water and wastewater utility membership organization in the US, provides training and technical assistance through 49 affiliated State Rural Water Associations that have over 31,000 utility system members. These utility system members provide safe and affordable water and wastewater services to over 34 million Americans in rural areas. Through its lobbying efforts, NRWA ensures more than $2 billion annually for rural and small water and wastewater construction upgrades and equipment.

Annually, NRWA and its state associations are responsible for the following:
• Total on-site contracts: 91,000+ annually
• Water and waste water professionals receiving training: 39,000+
• Communities receiving USDA water funding: 1,277
• On-site compliance assistance: 8,030
