Summary

The Environmental and Engineering Geophysical Society (EEGS), which was founded in 1992, is an applied scientific organization focused on the development and appropriate use of environmental and engineering geophysics. The Society publishes, markets, and distributes books and CD-ROMs on the application and use of geophysical technologies, and develops and distributes a peer-reviewed scientific journal and a quarterly newsletter. EEGS also has several student chapters in North America. Additionally, the Society maintains close ties with the near surface geophysics section (formerly EEGS-European Section) of the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers, the Near-Surface Geophysics Section of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, and the Near-Surface Focus Group of the American Geophysical Union, as well as formal affiliated society agreements with several international professional societies.
